After
losing nine games in a row, the White Sox defeated the Cubs 3-1.
Miguel Gonzalez went 7.1 innings and gave up only one run. Dan
Jennings got one out in the 8th before Anthony Swarzak
came on to record a four out save. Swarzak is the best guy in the
Sox pen now. Look for him to be moved.
The Cubs
only run came when starter, Kyle Hendricks grounded out with the
bases loaded scoring Ben Zobrist. Jose Abreu doubled in the tying
run in the 5th. Adam Engel homered off Justin Grimm to
give the Sox a 2-1 lead in the 6th. Matt Davidson hit a
long home run off Koji Uehara in the 8th to provide an
insurance run.
Not surprising
After
the Cubs big win over the Cardinals Sunday night, the Monday
afternoon game against the White Sox looked like a trap game for
them. John Lackey starts for the Cubs tomorrow and I don't have a
warm fuzzy feeling about that either.
Nagging doubts
Kyle
Hendricks got the start against the Sox and wasn't that impressive.
Kyle went 4.1 innings and gave up 8 hits while allowing one run. The
Cubs might not be out of the woods with their starting pitching yet.
Rose to be planted in Cleveland
Derrick
Rose is reportedly going to sign with the Cavs. It looks like Kyrie
Irving will indeed be traded. The Cavs are said to expect to get a
huge haul in return for return for Irving. With the Cavs being over
a barrel I don't see that as being the case. The Eastern Conference
of the NBA looks like it's going to be opened up quite a bit. I'm
looking forward to see how LeBron James likes playing with Derrick
Rose. Of course Rose signing with the Cavs and Rose playing with the
Cavs are two different things.
As Lucky and Luck would have it
Lucky
Whitehead has been cut by the Cowboys after reportedly failing to
show up for arraignment on a shoplifting charge. This soon after his
dog was stolen and held for ransom. That name Lucky seems kind of
ironic now. It would have been more embarrassing if Whitehead had
been caught when he dropped merchandise trying to shoplift it.
Indianapolis
Colts QB, Andrew Luck will begin training camp on the PUP. Luck
reportedly is healing well from shoulder surgery and looks to be
ready for the opening game of the season. Still, I think that Colts
fans have to be a little apprehensive.
More
next time.
