The market for quarterback futures is up

Last year I thought Ryan Pace overpaid to move up one slot in the draft to pick Mitch Trubisky. The Jets response to that seems to be, “Hold my beer”. The Jets traded three second round picks to the Colts to move from sixth to third in this year's draft. They really need to have their guy identified to make that work.

Will Buffalo roam in the draft?

The Buffalo Bills are rumored to at least be considering putting together a package of draft choices that would dwarf what the Jets and Bears paid to move up in the draft. The Giants are a potential trading partner, but even the Browns at number four could be a possibility. Who knows, maybe the Bills could even swoop in and make a trade with the Giants.

Leading market indicators for quarterbacks

The success of Jared Goff and Carson Wentz has driven up the price of young quarterbacks. If you step back and look at what Bears GM, Ryan Pace, has done over the last two years, it looks a lot better than looking at 2017 in a vacuum.

Was Case Keenum Joe Kapp 2.0?

The Broncos still may be looking at drafting a quarterback despite the free agent signing of Case Keenum. Keenum seems to be the Rodney Dangerfield of NFL QBs, he can't get any respect. He may be a one hit wonder like another former Vikings QB, Joe Kapp.

The Midas touch

Another Ex-Vikings quarterback, Sam Bradford, has found another team to pay him huge bucks while waiting for his next season ending injury. Sam has put up some of the most amazing numbers in NFL history. Not passing numbers, but millions of dollars paid to TD passes. His 20 million guaranteed with the Arizona Cardinals for the upcoming season will put his career earning at 134 million. Not bad for a guy who has thrown 101 TD passes in the NFL.

It's not just about receiving in Chicago

Somewhat lost in the opening salvo of Bears free agent signings was the fact they've added a kicker and pass rusher. Former Dolphins kicker, Cody Parker signed with the Bears and will hopefully bring an end to the ineptitude that has plagued the Bears at that position since Robbie Gould started missing easy kicks and was jettisoned. The Bears also, hopefully, boosted their pass rush with the signing of former 49ers DE, Aaron Lynch. Lynch has shown some potential as a pass rusher with the 49ers, recording a total of 12.5 sacks in his first two seasons in San Francisco.

Bellamy getting possessive

Of course, the biggest fish the Bears have landed in this offseason is wide receiver, Allen Robinson. Robinson reportedly offered another Bears receiver, Josh Bellamy, money so he could wear number 15. Bellamy chose to hang onto the number, one of the few things he's hung onto as a Bear. This marks the first time Bellamy has ever been considered a possession receiver.

The boys in a glass bubble

The Bulls continue to do their best to lose. They were successful in that endeavor Monday night, with a 110-92 loss to the Knicks. The Bulls potential big three of Zack LeVine, Kris Dunn and Lauri Markkanen all sat out the game with injuries? That question mark isn't a mistake, the Bulls may be the slowest healers in medical history. If the Bulls ever do make the playoffs with these guys, they should be well rested.

Is Sharon Stone teaching goaltending?

Another Chicago sports team that won't be making the playoffs this season is the Blackhawks. The Blackhawks lost another one Sunday night. It was a 5-4 overtime loss to the Blues. Alex DeBrincat had his third career hat trick, but it couldn't overcome bad defense and terrible goaltending from J F Berube. Berube has a five hole bigger than the Grand Canyon. Nobody since Sharon Stone has had a tougher time keeping their knees together. The loss of Corey Crawford meant a lost season for the Blackhawks.
