The NFL regular season officially kicked off with the
Eagles 18-12 win over the Falcons. That also means the NFL fantasy season is
also underway. My initial thoughts after
watching last night’s game is I’m glad I don’t have Matt Ryan as my fantasy
QB. It would be nice, however to have
Julio Jones. Matt Ryan must have Julio
on his fantasy team; otherwise his decision to repeatedly try to force the ball
to Julio at the end of the game makes no sense.
I didn’t have anybody on Falcons or Eagles on my fantasy team, so that
part of thre game didn’t matter to be. I did pick the Falcons to win. My bad.
On to Sunday’s games and my guys.
Quarterback: I have Russell Wilson and
Patrick Mahomes to choose from. I don’t
really like the Russell Wilson vs. the Denver Broncos defense, but I’m not wild
about Mahomes against the Chargers either.
I’ll go with Wilson and hope he piles up stats because the Seahawks can’t
run the ball. Maybe Wilson can add some
points with his legs.
Running
back: I have Kenyan Drake
of the Miami Dolphins and Royce Freeman of the Broncos as my running
backs. Drake is going up against the
Tennessee Titans defense while Freeman faces the Seahawks defense. I feel good about both of those matchups. Hopefully Drake and Freeman will get plenty
of touches. My opponent for this week
had Jay Ajayi who racked up 20 points while scoring two TDs for the Eagles last
night. I’m starting off in a hole.
RB/WR: In a pick that probably
makes me a homer, I have the Bears Tarik Cohen.
I hope he catches some passes and maybe breaks a long run to rack up a
few points.
WR: It seems like Aaron Rodgers
always finds a way to beat the Bears.
This week, I have one of his receivers, Devante Adams to help alleviate
the pain if the Packers prevail over the Bears again. My top receiver is DeAndre Hopkins. I think Texans QB, DeShaun Watson should find
him a few times against the Patriots defense.
Flex: In another case of homerism,
I have the Bears TE, Trey Burton in the flex position. Hopefully Mitch Trubisky can find him in the
red zone at least once. My opponent this
week has Packers TE, Jimmy Graham going against the Bears. I may be a little overmatched here.
D/ST&
K: The New England
Patriots are my defense. I might do some
last minute shopping in this area. I
suspect that DeShaun Watson may do some damage here. My opponent has the Buffalo Bills vs. the
Baltimore Ravens. I like his matchup better than mine. Finally, the Lions kicker, Matt Prater is my
pick this week. He’s a good kicker who’s
kicking in a dome. I feel okay about my
kicker.
Outlook: I hope my WRs and RBs can
carry my fantasy team this week. Russell
Wilson is a wildcard. My opponent’s Jay
Ajayi had a nice game for the Eagles, but Falcons WR, Mohamed Sanu racked up
only one point for his team. Maybe that
will even things out. Overall, I’m cautiously optimistic.
