Odd Thoughts on the NBA Draft, playoffs and other NBA stuff

The NBA draft lottery has taken place and NBA folks that love conspiracy theories are disappointed.  They’re not the only ones.  Zion Williamson wasn’t too happy either.  The New Orleans Pelicans won the first overall pick with the Memphis Grizzlies being awarded the second pick.  New York, Los Angles and Chicago were left in the lurch.  I guess there was no grassy knoll in this year’s NBA draft.

Zion gets out on a fast break

Zion Williamson left the building in a hurry after the lottery.  Some interpreted that as a sign Zion didn’t want to go to New Orleans.  Optimists among prefer to think Zion was showing the Pelicans his ability to get out on a fast break.  The Pelicans could actually have the makings of an outstanding team with Zion Williamson and Anthony Davis if they wanted to play in New Orleans.  Unfortunately Davis may show Zion how to quit on the team to get traded.  The trend of quitting on your team to get traded is one of the more disgusting trends I’ve seen in the NBA.

Then there's the Lakers

There have been rumblings about the Lakers trading LeBron James for Ben Simmons.  Has LeBron’s stock dropped that much to where that’s even a rumor? Just how dysfunctional are the Lakers?  LeBron maybe be on the downhill slide, but building around him is still the best shot the Lakers have of being any sort of force in the NBA.

The Lakers have hired Frank Vogel as head coach and Jason Kidd as his assistant.  That’s like hiring Julius Caesar and making Brutus his assistant.  It seems like Vogel has been thrown under the Buss from the get go.

What else does James Harden know?

After losing to the Warriors again James Harden now says he knows how to beat them.  Stop it James.  If the Rockets couldn’t beat the Warriors with Kevin Durant out I don’t see what knowledge Harden has that could led to defeating the Warriors.  I understand James also knows what’s in McDonald’s secret sauce and what the Colonel’s 11 herbs and spices are.

Is Giannis the best player in the NBA?

The Milwaukee Bucks are up 1-0 in their series against the Raptors and I like them to make the NBA Finals against the Warriors.  This year’s playoffs look to be Giannis Antetokounmpo’s coming out party.  For years LeBron James was pretty well acknowledged as the best player in NBA.  There is room for legitimate debate as to who’s the best now.  We now have to come to grips with an important question, is the nickname Greek Freak PC?
