I Remember Them Sports Quiz 79





1. This left-handed hitter showed real promise after coming up with Reds in 1986. In four seasons with the Reds his OBP was .406. He also played with the Dodgers though injuries limited his production. ( 4 points)

2. His tenure as the Clippers GM wasn’t successful, but his playing career was. This forward began his NBA career with the Lakers when they were in Minneapolis and concluded it after the 1971-72 season. (2 points)

3. This man was a huge goal scorer for the Jets in the 80s, piling up 379 goals in nine seasons in Winnipeg. He was later traded to Buffalo for Phil Housley. ( 2 points)

4. After starting his career with the Reds, this OF/1B was traded to the Mets after the 1967 season. He hit .300 for the Miracle Mets. ( 3 points)

5. The brother of an NBA legend, this G/F began his NBA career with the Knicks in 1985. In seven seasons with the Knicks, he averaged 14.9 ppg. After his run with the Knicks, he signed as a free agent with the Cavs. ( 3 points)

6. After coming out of South Carolina, this RB led the NFL in rushing with 1674 yards in 1981. He played for the Saints for four years before going on to the Redskins. ( 2 points)

10. This outstanding starting pitcher with a devastating overhand curveball had a long, productive career with the Washington Senators / Minnesota Twins. He won 20 games for the Twins in 1962 and followed that up with 21 wins in 1963. ( 4 points)

1. Kal Daniels. Kal had a career OPS of .861 which was much higher early in his career. Another case of what if.

2. Elgin Baylor. He and Jerry West formed quite a duo for the Lakers in the 60s. Remember how ineffective he was as the Clippers GM? Well, he was the opposite of that as a player.

3. Dale Hawerchuk. I wonder how much better known Dale would be if he hadn’t had his best seasons in Winnipeg. He had six 100 point seasons with the Jets.

4. Art Shamsky. Art was a good left-handed stick. In the TV series, “Everybody Loves Raymond”, Ray Barone’s brother, Robert, named his dog Shamsky.

5. Gerald Wilkins. While not the player his brother, Dominique, was, Gerald was pretty good.

6. George Rodgers. George was an excellent runner, but fumbles were an issue. He fumbled 13 times in his rookie season.

7. Deron Cherry. Deron had five seasons with seven or more interceptions.

8. Rick Volk. For his career, Rick was named to three Pro Bowl and two All Pro teams.

9. Ted Higuera. Ted’s best season was 1986 when he went 20-11 with an ERA of 2.79.

10. Camilo Pascual. From 1954-58 Camilo went 28-66. From then on, he was one of the better pitchers in the AL for a number of years.
