An Oak is uprooted from a Garden, Blackhawks win, Bulls lose
Wednesday night saw a Blackhawks win and a Bulls loss,
but the big news of the night involved the New York Knicks and retired star, Charles
Oakley. Oakley was kicked out of Madison
Square Garden and arrested after an altercation with Knicks owner, James
Dolan. It seems that Oakley was upset
about not being part of the Knicks 70th anniversary
festivities. Ultimately Oak was uprooted
from the Garden by a hoard of security personnel.
It must have been confusing for security to be told to
take out the crazy guy when they had Oakley in the proximity of Dolan. The security guys ultimately decided on
Oakley. I wonder if Carmelo Anthony took
note. He could be next. By the way, where has Phil Jackson been? Is he in the witness protection program?
Welcome back Jonathan
The Blackhawks came up with a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Wild. Jonathan Toews came up the game winner in overtime. Toews was outstanding throughout the night, recording two assists in addition to his goal. The Wild seemed to have the advantage in play, but the Hawks came away with the win. Corey Crawford was outstanding in the second half of the game and spectacular in overtime.
The Hawks are getting a boost from rookies Ryan Hartman
and Nick Schmaltz who both scored goals last night, as well as Tanner Kero and
Vinnie Hinostroza but their defensemen seem to be showing age in some spots and
inexperience in others. It seems to me
that Duncan Keith is getting beaten in his zone more than in years past. Trevor van Reimsdyk was also guilty of making
some poor decisions. I’m not sure how
much of that can be cleaned up by playoff time.
Nothing to see here
The Bulls, minus Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade went down
to the Golden State Warriors 123-92. It’s
about what could be expected under the circumstances. Butler was out with a bruised heel and while
I thought Wade was out with Old Manitis, it turns out he’s dealing with a respiratory
problem. Honestly, Wade has done about
as well as could be expected this season, which means the Bulls are going
nowhere.
Panhandling at the highest level
In baseball news, Marlins owner, Jeffrey Loria,
reportedly has a handshake deal in place to sell the team. I suggest whoever made a handshake deal with
Loria count his fingers. Wasn’t the
Marlins new stadium built with public funds?
If so, doesn’t that mean that basically public funds ultimately went to
Loria? Well, at least he didn’t apply
for food stamps.
More next time.
