Bulls go down easy, White Sox in first, Cubs scuffle |
In game
6 of their series against the Celtic, the Bulls like a good beer,
went down easy. The Bulls lost by a final score of 105-83. The game
wasn't that close. It was a sad way to go out. Dwyane Wade showed
his age. He looked like he's a week away from shaking his fist at
the Celtics and telling him to stay off his lawn.
The
Celtics went 16-39 from beyond the arc and shredded the Bulls
interior defense. Jimmy Butler scored 23 point but had 0 assists.
The Bulls had 13 as a team. It's safe to say the Bulls could use
another point guard.
Dwayne
Wade finished with 2 points. Wade went to If you're scoring that's theethe lane various times
and appeared to be fouled, but didn't get the call. We're a long
ways removed form 2006 D Wade.
At least they kept the pick
In the
NFL draft, Bears gm, Ryan Pace, took time out from rebuilding the
49ers to draft a tight end the second round. The selection was Adam
Shaheen out of Ashland. Shaheen is 6'6' and weighs 278 pounds. He
is considered a poorer block and better pass catcher than you might
expect. Initially I wanted to be snarky about this pick, but it
might be better than I initially thought. The Bears could
diffidently use a tight end. Of course, they could definitely use
a lot of things.
It's definitely not 2016
In what's becoming a disturbing pattern, another Cubs starter got lit up early. Jake Arrieta gave up 5 earned runs in the first and the Cubs weren't able to come back. Once again, they had opportunities but couldn't come up with the big hit.
Kris
Bryant found Fenway Park to his liking, hitting a bomb over the Green
Monster in his first at bat there. The shot was estimated at 449
feet. Albert Almora Jr. also homered, but ultimately the Cubs came
up short, 5-4.
The Three Jakes
I think
it's safe to say 2015 Jake Arrieta isn't coming back. I hope 2016
Jake Arrieta will. I hope we're not seeing the reemergence of
Baltimore Jake. The biggest question surrounding the Cubs is there
pitching. Early returns are mixed.
Here's the formula
It was
left to the White Sox to salvage the Chicago sports evening, and
surprise, surprise, they did. Mike Pelfrey got the start for the Sox
tonight and wasn't effective, giving up 3 runs in 4.2 innings.
Fortunately for the Sox, that was good enough. More great bullpen
work, and the long ball were the keys in a 7-3 White Sox win over the
Tigers. Poor Tiger defense also helped.
Avisail
Garcia and Todd Frazier and Tim Anderson homered for the Sox.
Geovany Soto also had a huge 2 out, 2 run single to put the Sox up
5-3. This came after two errors by Tigers third baseman, Nick
Castellanos.
Who is that guy?
The Sox
pen put up 4.1 scoreless innings. Two of those innings were thrown
by Anthony Swarzak who picked up the win. Swarzak hasn't given up a
run so far this season. He has my attention.
Not so fast
On April
29 the White Sox are in first place in their division. Do they trade
Quintana? I'm not so sure.
More
next time.
