Thursday
night brought another display of nauseating ineptitude known as Bears
football. Every time Mike Glennon starts a game, I lose more respect
for Ryan Pace's football sense. The Bears have three former
quarterbacks starting in the NFL now. They are Jay Cutler, Josh
McCown and Brian Hoyer. None of those would be confused with a good
NFL quarterback, but all are better than Mike Glennon. To think the
Bears paid 18 million for this level of crud is staggering.
The QB comparison
The
final score was 35-14 Packers over the Bears. It was even uglier
than that. Mike Glennon matched Aaron Rodgers turnover for
touchdown. Glennon had four turnovers while Aaron Rodgers had four
touchdown passes. That's a microcosm of where the Packers and Bears
are at. It's time to find out if Mitch Trubisky is ready or not. If
Trubisky doesn't show anything it's time for Ryan Pace to be shown
the gate. Even if Trubisky is good, Pace might need to go.
Why? Just why?
A lot
has been made of the garbage that is the Bears disgusting receivers
corps. That raises the question of why the Bears let Alshon Jeffery
go. Another boneheaded decision by Pace.
The
Bears could have a good ground game, but Glennon's lack of skill
negates that to a large extent. The other teams stack the box and
the good Bears running backs have their work cut out for them.
And on defense
Look for
Bears linebacker, Danny Trevathan, to be suspended after a horrific
hit on Packers receiver, DaVante Adams. Travathan gave Adams a
helmet to helmet hit that resulted in Adams being carted off the
field. Lots of opinions about whether the hit was a cheap shot or
not. For my money, is was. I think it was a cheap shot born out of
frustration.
Glennon making Fox look like Trestman
I think
the Bears are tired of ineptitude of teammates, coaching, the front
office and ownership. If Glennon gets the next start, look for the
Bears to go into Trestmanesque disarray.
And lost in the Glennon debacle
By the
way, the Bears are even worse at getting turnovers than they were
last year. As of now, the Bears have 0 interceptions. For years the
Bears have had problems with quarterbacking, wide receivers and
defensive takeaways.
John Fox is as good at interviews as he is in coaching
I
thought John Fox was a good hire as head coach. I was wrong. The
Bears should have cut Fox lose and keep Adam Gase. I'm trying to
decide which is more painful, watching the Bears or listening to John
Fox.
More
next time.
